Creating a company culture that people want to be a part of AND stay with

Recently, eimagine was announced as a 2015 Best Places to Work in Indiana Award recipient.  We are proud.  We are humbled.  We are encouraged that all our hard work over the years regarding our employees is recognized.  Most importantly, we are grateful for our incredible team that each day makes the choice to have eimagine be their employer and works tirelessly to make our company great.

Leadership at eimagine realizes that a strong company culture is the glue that holds everything together.  Let’s face it — most people spend more time each week at work than with their family.  There has to be a connection that makes it all worthwhile.  We see our team like a family.  We have our good days and bad days, we laugh, we cry, we argue and make up.  At the end of the day, our core culture is what keeps us all here.  In the last two years, we’ve had three individuals reach their 10 year anniversary with eimagine, which is something to behold in the technology consulting industry.  By 2018, we will have five more team members achieve 10 years of success.  We’re not ones to count our chickens before they hatch; retaining top talent is a critical process unto itself.

Our employee retention principles aren’t rocket science; we believe they are the essence in keeping the highest quality eimagine team intact.  We’ve listed a few of our most valuable below:

  1. Listen to your employees.  It’s the MOST important thing an employer can do.  When people feel they have a voice within the company, it’s a win-win for all.  We are grateful for the candid feedback eimagine team members give us.  Whether it is a face to face conversation with management or through anonymous surveys periodically given throughout the year, we give eimagine team members a voice and make changes from their suggestions.
  2. Take the time to know your team.  Our employees are like family.  By knowing their families, friends, hobbies and extracurricular interests, we have insight into what our employees work so hard for.  We all have our personal passions.  When we take the time to know our team outside of the office, we only strengthen our work relationship.
  3. Mix things up.  We’re the first ones to admit our mistakes.  Over the years we’ve rolled out some employee initiatives that have been wonderfully received and implemented, truly making a difference for our team.  There have been others not as successful.  We are transparent with our team when something doesn’t turn out as planned.  When an employee program must be fine-tuned or changed, it will be much more positively received if an employer is open and upfront with the discovered shortcomings.
  4. Have fun!  It’s simple.  Allowing employees to be themselves, laugh and have fun at work creates a recipe for a highly engaged and productive team.  Whether it’s our PMO team’s daily scrum, the kitschy white board surveys in our break room or a challenge to an Xbox showdown in the rec room, our team is encouraged to have fun and be who they are.

eimagine Team Members — THANK YOU for helping us build the company we are today!  The success of eimagine leads back to you.  We appreciate all your contributions and look forward to many exciting initiatives to come.

What are the unique principles that guide your company culture?  I’d love to hear your thoughts!
